License usage vs Users with assigned devices

Hi Sophos Community,

I have a question regarding Sophos Mobile licensing. I understand that these licenses are on a per-user base.

In Sophos Mobile -> People, there are 44 users with at least 1 assigned device.

In Central -> Licensing, I can see that of our total Mobile Advanced licenses, only 38 are in use.

So here I am wondering, at what point does a Sophos Mobile license become "used"?

I couldn't really find any documentation about this. Any pointers would be appreciated!

    Thank you for reaching out to the Community Forum. That's correct, Sophos Mobile uses a user-based license scheme. One user license is valid for all devices assigned to that user. Licenses will only be applied once the users have been added.

    The Mobile Advanced license lets you use additional features such as managing the Sophos Secure Workspace and Sophos Secure Email apps.

    Can you try to export the list of devices per user and see if that matches the list of users that you have? You may export this from Mobile > Reports > Devices per user.

    I checked the device report and it does match with the list of users.

    Just going by the list of users, we *should* know how many licenses are needed. What's confusing to me is that there are less licenses reported as being in use.

    Looking at the user report I can see that some devices haven't been active in over a month. Is it possible that Sophos Central only assigns licenses to "active" users?
