you are right. I hadn't assigned the app group. now I have another question, how do I enable the status bar, so that the user sees what % the battery is? because i can enable and disable only notifications and volume.

It looks like this is not currently possible. I suggest sending in a feature request for this to be added to Sophos Mobile, as it appears it is possible to adjust the configuration payload to allow this.
