I have a bunch of Zebra TC57 and typically enroll them with the QR code. I got to that step with the Zebra EC30 to realize, it does not have a camera only a 2D scanner. It has an option to Enroll Manually but I need Security Token, Server URL, and email and I can't seem to locate that in Sophos Dashboard anywhere.
Thanks for following up with us. My original reply was a little inaccurate, as I had the option for "Legacy Device Management" enabled when testing this.
I was able to verify that the Zebra EC30…
Thanks for reaching out to us.
When you are using the "Add device wizard" the final page during enrollment displays the QR Code as well as the fields mentioned in your post for enrollment.
That information is not on my screen. Please see below
I was able to verify that the Zebra EC30 is a supported Android Enterprise device.
It looks like this device is also capable of scanning QR codes. I was able to find this information in the following product information sheet. On page 130/134 under "Data Capture Supported Symbologies".
Let me know if this works for you.
The device itself is capable of scanning QR codes but during the enrollment process, the Sophos app tries to launch the camera app which does not exist causing the enrollment to crash out.
How do I enable "Legacy Device Management"
How can I get the Sophos Mobile Control app not to launch the camera app to scan the QR code and use the 2D scanner to scan the QR code? Alternatively, how can enable Legacy Device Management? It has been 4 days without a response.
You can change the management mode using the following navigation.- Settings > Setup > Google Setup > Android (tab)
Checking internally, there is an open development case related to this issue specific to Zebra scanners as well. A request is being made to include the fields required for manual enrollment when using Android Enterprise enrollment.
A workaround that has been successful for others is using a QR Decoder to extract the fields needed from the SMC QR Code.
One I was able to use with some success is "Barcode to PC". When scanning the code shown in SMC using this scanner, the information is presented as follows:https://smc-device-if-cloudstation-us-west-2.prod.hydra.sophos.com/client-api/enroll/fucppm74?email=user%40sophos.com&url=smc-device-if-cloudstation-us-west-2.prod.hydra.sophos.com&afw=2
Token: fucppm74Email: firstname.lastname@example.orgURL: smc-device-if-cloudstation-us-west-2.prod.hydra.sophos.com&afw=2
Let me know if this helps.
An attempt from to the app to allow scanning from 2D scanner and camera would be the easiest. Typing the long URL on such a tiny device is not the easiest workaround :)
Also the url would be smc-device-if-cloudstation-us-west-2.prod.hydra.sophos.com not smc-device-if-cloudstation-us-west-2.prod.hydra.sophos.com&afw=2
Thank you for following up to clarify for others who may come across this issue.
If you would like to see developments made in the future to have the 2D Scanner become usable on Zebra devices, I'd recommend submitting a feature request on the Sophos Ideas Page.
