Migrating SMC from Server 2008 R2 to Server 2012 R2

Hi there, 
 
 I am looking at doing 2 things on my SMC, firstly, migrating it from an old Server 2008 R2 to Server 2012 R2. Then I need to upgrade from SMC 8.5 and a colleague suggested first upgrading to 8.6 so that we could put the latest IOS patch on it, but I see that it is possible to upgrade to V6. Would this be better or is it best to upgrade to 8.6 first. 
 
 Also, I can find guides on migrating from server 2008 to 2012 for the enterprise console but not for the SMC. If someone could point me in the right direction of some documentation for this I would greatly appreciate it.

 You will need is to backup the SMCDBv2 database and restore it on the windows server 2012. You will also need to back up the SSL certificate. Please refer to this article for moving the Sophos Mobile Control server to another server. Post-migration, you can upgrade to the latest Sophos Mobile version by referring to this article .
