Cannot Delete File "You require permission from XXX\XXXXXXX to make changes to this file"

Received a Sophos email saying this

Virus/spyware 'Troj/JSRedir-RX' has been detected in "C:\Users\mshailer\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache\f_03a930". Cleanup unavailable.

When I login with that user's creds and try to delete the file it says that I need that user's permission to make changes/delete the file. I have tried deleting the file as the user and the local admin. So far I can't delete the file.

Anyone have any thoughts or have seen this?

Best,

Brad

  • I just had this exact issue and was about to ask for assistance when I realised the file in question was actually using network shares so it was being quarantined by the server not by my client. So I had to authorise/cleanup via the servers AV client not my machine.
