Sophos Firewall: Configure web exceptions for Office 365 KB-00003817318 may 2021

Environment: Windows 11, XG115, non domain network

I followed the instructions in this KB explicitly but was still unable to install Office/Microsoft 365. Couldn't download required file. 

There is a vague note in the KB- 

• The exception created does not bypass the policy checks. If it is required to bypass the policy checks, enable the Policy Checks option under the Skip the selected checks or actions section.

In desperation, I enabled the Policy Checks option and was finally able to successfully install. 

Apparently, it is required to bypass the policy checks in order to install Office/Microsoft 365 in my particular environment. I suggest that the note be modified to read:

• The exception created does not bypass the policy checks. If it is required to bypass the policy checks, enable the Policy Checks option under the Skip the selected checks or actions section. If still unable to install Office/Microsoft 365 after creating this exception, enable the Policy Checks option and try again.
