I was re-reading thru this kb : Sophos Central Endpoint: Details on the Central Installer logs And noticed somethign that caught my eye regarding Sophos Central Endpoint.
If the installation of Sophos Endpoint is system based and not user profile based, why does it use the user profile temp fiolder? Does this apply for the autoupdte process too? Where it relies on the user profile temp folder for the process?
Also if the Sophos Endpoint installation is going to use the user temp folder for installation of software to the pc, does this process require the uiser to have any elevated permission level? Does the installation require UAC to be off?
After instlallation and reboot, I understand that the sophos central endpoint is now system specific and not tied to the user. But If an uninstall were to occur, I recall reading in another KB that the MSI must be available for the uninstall process. If the install files were tied to another user then this woudl be difficult to accomplish.
I was also looking for a similar KB that talks about the Autoupdate process for security files and definitions only under contrlled updates as welll as a kb about the full Auto update process with folder locations and permissions needed to carry the task on behalf of the system.
Thank you,
John
