KB-000044555 - What about Uninstall, then macOS Upgrade, then Install

The article about macOS Ventura upgrade issues does not clearly enough discuss whether a non-upgraded Mac can have Sophos uninstalled first, then be upgraded to Ventura, then have Sophos installed.

It mentions uninstall / reinstall does not fix the issue, but this is in the context of a Mac that has already been upgraded. (Or so it appears from my reading.) -- Has testing of the alternative method mentioned above been done? Can information clarifying that possibility be added to the article? Thanks if so.

  • Hi

The issue mentioned in the section "Upgrading to macOS Ventura on a device that is already running Sophos Endpoint Protection" is about the existence of the com.sophos.endpoint.scanextension. Although it appears to be listed and enabled, it may not be, since the permissions were changed during the upgrade. It needs to be removed manually and then be granted full disk access again.

Uninstalling the Sophos Agent before upgrading to macOS Ventura and then reinstalling later would not have this issue since the post-installation would prompt you to grant access to Sophos extensions.
