On-prem Exploit Prevention can be installing on windows server 2008 without R2?

 For 2008 without r2 Sophos on-prem can protect ransomware on these server? 
 Bcz my customer they need to protect ransomware on these server.

 as specified in the Supported Windows Platforms article (and at first-hand) EXP (HitmanPro.Alert) requires R2.
