various client errors

Hello,

We have 3 clients that have Sophos client installed that exhibit the same collection of errors.

EC shows them as:

 out-of-date,

 policy comparison failure,

failed to install savxp: the msi has failed [0x00000067]

The Windows logs of each client shows the same MSIInstaller errors:

E_FAILURE.

CManager::BeginProcessing in the ComponentManager component encountered a catastrophic error that it could not recover from.

The problems seem all over the map. Where do I start troubleshooting?

  • Hello ricercar,

    which OS and SAV version?

Are all the Sophos services running and does the GUI open and appear correct (i.e. all functions available)? Probably not. Search for an error message with the folder name (...\Sophos\Sophos Data Control\Logs) in the Sophos Anti-Virus Install Log_ddmmyy_hhmmss.txt (in Windows\Temp) . Does this folder (and the other under Sophos) exist on disk? Can you (delete and) create it?

Of only three clients out of nnn have these problems and it doesn't "spread" it's often less effort to uninstall and reprotect the computers (try one first and if it works just do the other two and forget it).

    Christian
