Wont give me the option to delete viruses!!

My school installed Sophos on our laptops for us.

Suddenly, tonight, Ive been getting notifications that there are high risk  trojans and worms on my computer.

They have all been placed in the quarantine section, however when I select them to delete them, sophos tells me no actions are avaliable (basically I cant delete them). I dont know what to do! Can anyone help??

  • Hi there

I'm curious as to what you mean by "high risk" viruses and trojans. Sophos normally does not indicate a "risk factor" when a malware is found on an endpoint. Additionally, are you sure that this detection is in the SOPHOS quarantine? If so, could you please indicate EXACTLY which infections Sophos detected?

  • This to me sounds more like you have had a fake security webpage pop up that pretends it is scanning your machine and you have viruses. It either then tries to install Malware or sell you fake anti-virus Malware.

As in a previous post you would only know the type by its name in the Quarantine ie Mal-, Troj- etc, you only know that Conficker-D is more dangerous than FakeAV by knowledge.

If you have Sophos on your machine then right click the shield and open, then run the scan now option, any Malware, Viruses should then be detected, hopefully you don't have any.
