disabling Tamper Protection on Endpoints

Hi everyone,

during a migration from Sophos Enteprise Console 5.5.2 to a new server (still on-premise) quite a number of clients did not deactivate tamper protection, dispite it being deactivated in the old Enterprise Console.

Now I am having issues re-protecting the endpoints from the new SEC server.

I already tried to disabled tamper protection on affected clients via "sedcli -TPOff <password>", but this only leads to "SED Tamper Protection password is not currently being used". According to a post in some Sophos community forum, this might be due to not using enhanced tamper protection, which we never had activated.

Since we are unable to locally access the clients, methods like https://support.sophos.com/support/s/article/KB-000036125?language=en_US which require safe mode are no option for us.

Is there any wayx to disbale "normal" tamper protection by script or some other way of automatisation ?

Regards

Tobias
