Hi Can carmack
As mentioned in this article, this issue occurs as Microsoft has released an update to Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 to support SHA256 only driver signing. As suggested in the article please perform windows update or install Windows KBs 4474419 and 4490628

and How to stop Sophos core updates?
Hello,
Please try applying the recommended updates and none are applicable to my operating system.
Download all pending updates for Windows 7 operating systems and I still have the problem.
The only solution is to uninstall Sophos, several clients are choosing to do so and this leads to not renewing licensing with Sophos and installing another tool.
Not all computers can be upgraded to Windows 10, which implies cost of licenses.
Today the count of affected computers in 15 companies amounts to 122 devices.
The details I put in this post might help:
Regards,
Jak
It is not a general solution, only a few devices stop presenting the problem, I have opted for those where it presents an error after applying security patches, modifying registries and reinstalling the antivirus. uninstall the antivirus.
This is not a solution and every day more devices are added to the problem.
It is causing a waste to all IT departments.
I certainly understand your concern. With the patch updates it will resolve the boot issue. We will update the information for this issue once available.
