Egnyte Drive for Mac - Sophos exceptions

We are running Egnyte Drive in our Mac environment and are experiencing repeated crashes and freezing when seems to improve when Sophos Antivirus is uninstalled/disabled.

Anyone else out there experienced similar.

I've tried adding scan exceptions in lots of formats, wondering if anyone has an exception list that works for Egnyte Drive.

Thanks

  • Curious to know if you found exception paths that worked out; what version of OS X and Egnyte Drive also. We've run Egnyte Drive and Sophos Central Endpoint without much trouble—did not set any exceptions. OS X 10.10.5 Egnyte Drive 1.6.2.

  • Have yet to find a solution that doesn't involve turning off on-access scanning.

I should have added more information about our environment!  We're experiencing problems on MacOS 10.11.6 to 10.12.3 using Egnyte Drive versions from 1.6.1 to 1.6.3.

We're new to Egnyte so not sure what our experience would have been on previous versions of MacOS.

  • Hi Nadine,

I work at Egnyte and manage several of our Desktop Products including Egnyte Drive.

We have noticed several customers reporting crashes with Sophos and Egnyte Drive on Mac though it does not seem to occur on all machines or for every customer using Sophos. We're trying to determine a recommended configuration to make Sophos and Egnyte work without crashing or freezing.

Could you raise a support ticket with Egnyte (if you already have just let me know the ticket number)? In the support ticket, please include information about version of Sophos, version of Egnyte, and any pattern you notice to when the freeze or crash happens (for example upon opening particular types of documents).

You can also request to have the ticket escalated directly to engineering and make reference to this forum article.

Appreciate any information you can provide.

    Thanks!
