ROP Exploit - Excel

Hi rickfred! Thank you for contacting us about this. What version of Excel (2007, 2010, 2013, 2016?) are you using and on what version of Windows (7, 8.1, 10, 32-bit, 64-bit)? And what other security software do you have on the machine? Looking forward solving this! Thanks, Mark

Office 2013 on a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit machine. Today I received an error when using Word 2013 that I have never received before which may be related. See attached image file.

It seems you have software called Privacy Manager for HP Protect Tools on your machine. Could you try and run Excel without the Privacy Manager and other add-ins?

There is software called Privacy Manager for HP Protect Tools but it has never been configured. When the program opens after a reboot and asks to start it I have always said cancel and ask again in 7 days.

The ROP exploit problem magically disappeared last month without my doing anything. Today, the problem was back with the same symptoms and behavior as my original post. 
HP Privacy Manager has not been configured and the service is not running.
If I remove my computer from the Endpoint Advanced & Intercept X Early Access Program the ROP exploit problem doesn't occur.

This is interesting, I've been battling with MSWORD being shut off in normal and safe mode because of loadlib exploit which eventually led me here. It's also an HP Machine with the protect tools on it.

I'll report back when I manage to test it out.

My issue was resolved when I deleted Microsoft EMET from the machines

I thought mine went away automatically when hp client security software did an automatic update but it randomly came back - ill start a new thread.
