Anti-virus protection with Endpoint ?

Am a bit concerned that the Endpoint trial program I 've installed for a malware scan has uninstalled my antivirus suite (antivirus firewall emails, etc protection). Malware are one thing, antivirus and firewall another. Is my system back on WIndows defender protection levels or does Endpoint take care of those, too??

  • Hi  ,

    Good day.

Thanks for reaching out to the Sophos Community Forum.

Note: If you install a compatible non-Microsoft antivirus program, Microsoft Defender antivirus will automatically turn itself off. If it's a Windows PC, the Defender protection option will be automatically disabled once Sophos is installed. But for a Windows server, we have to manually disable the Defender's real-time protection.

You could refer here for Microsoft Defender Antivirus compatibility with other security products.

  • In addition to the previous reply. When you remove Sophos Endpoint on your device for some reason, like "Trial Account is expired," Windows Defender will automatically be turned on after Detecting that there's no other Security Software installed on the device.
