We're having issues even though it's disabled in policy, particularly for devices on wifi and not our wired network.  Disabling in the threat protection policy and rebooting the device doesn't resolve the issue in these cases

It could just be a timing issue - policy has to have time to refresh after changing it in Central. The knowledgebase article has been updated to reflect this.

today was mad. a lot of customers called in the morning to report the issue. 

Would be possible to share with us the root cause of this? from a technical perspective

Noting conclusive neither from support neither from management as an answer, just the fact that was due to the year  leap 

This caused us enormous problems yesterday. Bearing in mind you send emails advising of dashboard maintenance issues why couldn't you have sent an email to your customers as soon as the issue was identified so that we knew what the problem was? Really not impressed here.

You can sign up to their text notifications service - I got an alert first thing before I came into work.
