Trial Intercept X Advanced with EDR convert to Full Intercept X Advanced continues trial until expiration?

Happy with our trial of Intercept X Advanced with EDR, but figured we don't need EDR. So bought two licenses for Intercept X Advanced and installed it a couple of hours ago. (One machine had been trying the trial out for weeks, the other I installed the software today after getting the Full license.)

According to Sophos Central, both machines are still using the trial license. Hopefully this is normal and we're getting the EDR capability until the trial expires and then the endpoint flips over the the slightly-less-capable full license. Other questions in the forums have dealt with rolling from a trial to a full license for exactly the same thing, but this case seems slightly different.

I assume that the endpoint software is the same and that the EDR is just turned off -- perhaps at the endpoint or perhaps in Sophos Central -- so it's not a separate install or anything. And assuming that trial --> full works a bit differently from a full renewal date-wise. Just wanting a little reassurance that I'm not going to get a surprise in four days when the trial has expired.

  • Well, it expired and now things are inconsistent, but it appears to be working. Everything seems positive on the laptops, firewall, and Sophos Central, but the Administrator > Licensing display still shows 0 of 2 Intercept X Advanced licenses in use. So I'll just assume that at some point that will become consistent with what seems to be the reality.
