Device Encryption prompt after removing license

I am getting the "Sophos Device Encryption has been set up to protect your computer" constantly on a computer even though I have removed the Device Encryption license for this computer in Central. 
 How to I get the client to stop trying to encrypt?

I actually found the answer while troubleshooting another issue. 
 When the client is installed with the proxyserver option set, it will set the proxy for Management Communication, but it will not set the proxy for Updates. 
 This might be a bug? 
 Anyway, once I manually set the proxy for Updates, and the client updated it stopped asking to encrypt.
