  • look for or create a uninstall log (msiexec -x {GUID of program}. usually they can be found in C:\Windows\Temp. Probably the program has been installed from a SMB share that is now inaccessible or the files have been removed from there.

  • I tried the suggestions on that link to no avail and I am still unable to uninstall endpoint so I am stuck in limbo at the moment

  • Hi ,

so, you want to uninstall Sophos Endpoint. Let's get it done:

By default endpoints have Enhanced Tamper Protection enabled and this must be disabled before the software can be uninstalled. Deactivate it via Central or manually via the Admin settings in the Agent. Once logged in a Settings tab is available where it is possible to tick a setting to override Sophos Central policy for up to 4 hours. Once this is done it becomes possible to turn off Tamper Protection.

It is recommended to uninstall Sophos via the Add or Remove Programs or via Programs and Features. The file uninstallcli.exe  from  C:\Program Files\Sophos\Sophos Endpoint Agent  can also be used to uninstall Sophos.

If this does not work, use SophosZap! It's a removal tool provided by Sophos

    1. Disable Tamper Protection.
    2. Download SophosZap.
    3. Remove incompatible software before you run it:

      1. AD Sync Tool
      2. Invincea
      3. PureMessage for Exchange (PMEX)
      4. RMS as a Server/Relay
      5. Sophos Enterprise Console (SEC)
      6. Sophos SafeGuard Enterprise (SGN)
      7. Sophos Server Lockdown (SLD)
      8. SAV for NetApp
      9. SAVDI
      10. Sophos Transparent Authentication Suite (STAS)
      11. Sophos IPsec Client
      12. Sophos Connect
      13. Sophos Connect Admin
      14. Sophos Update Manager (SUM)

    4. Confirm that its version the newest version, if not contact support to get it.

      1. Right-click SophosZap.exe.
      2. Select Properties.
      3. Check File version in Details tab.

    5. Open a Command Prompt with admin privilege.
    6. Change the path to the current location of SophosZap.exe.
    7. Run the command SophosZap --confirm

The following screen will appear and remain for several minutes:

    8. Once SophosZap has completed its first steps, you will see a prompt to Reboot and re-execute, as below:

    9. Reboot the computer.
    10. Open a Command Prompt with admin privilege.
    11. Run the command SophosZap --confirm one more time as shown below:

    12. Reboot the computer again.

Please provide feedback if this worked.

    Good luck!
