[Advisory] Central Dashboards: Some previously created Custom Roles may not display on the Manage Roles/Global Setting pages

Hello Community,

Overview

November 11th 2020 - Sophos Engineering are aware of an issue where some custom roles previously created in Central (Enterprise, Partner, or Central) may not be displayed when viewing the Roles page for the Dashboard in question.

  1. For Enterprise or Partner Dashboards: Settings & Policies-->Manage Administrators-->Roles tab.
  2. For Central Dashboards: the Global Settings-->Role Management.

These Custom roles still exist, and you can continue to add or remove people to these custom roles by editing the individual user/administrator to change their role.

  1. For Enterprise or Partner Dashboards: Settings & Policies-->Manage Administrators (find administrator and edit and change role)
  2. For Central Dashboards: Overview-->People (find user/administrator and edit and change role)

It will not be possible to change the settings of these Custom roles until this issue is resolved. New Custom roles can be created and used in place of any Custom roles that are affected.

  1. Create Custom Role for Central Dashboard
  2. Create Custom Role for Enterprise Dashboard
  3. Create Custom Role for Partner Dashboard

When trying to save a Custom role that is affected, it will show an indefinite spinning wheel in the UI. Refreshing the page will allow you to continue working.

Applies to the following Sophos product(s) and version(s)

Central, Enterprise, and Partner Dashboards

Impact

Customers may not be able to edit some previously created Custom Roles.

Current status

November 11, 2020 - Sophos Engineering is investigating this issue.

Workaround

If you need to apply one of the affected Custom Roles to an Administrator or User, you can do so by editing the individual user/administrator to change their role.

  1. For Enterprise or Partner Dashboards: Settings & Policies-->Manage Administrators (find administrator and edit and change role)
  2. For Central Dashboards: Overview-->People (find user/administrator and edit and change role)

If you need to edit an affected Custom Role, it is possible to create a new Custom Role, with the changes needed, and add the appropriate users or Administrators afterwards.

  1. Create Custom Role for Central Dashboard
  2. Create Custom Role for Enterprise Dashboard
  3. Create Custom Role for Partner Dashboard
