Migrating Sophos Enterprise Console

Hi All,

I have two questions.

1/ Migrating Sophos Enterprise Console from one server to another - New server has the same OS, same access rights etc.  I have seen the guide for 5.4 and its seems quite straight forward.

With regards to updating the endpoint to point to the new server, does this get rolled out via group policy?  or can this be done by protecting the computer in Sophos?

2/ When migrating from production server to then new production server, is there a way I can upgrade my version of Sophos Enterprise Console from 5.4.1 to 5.5? Would this cause registry problems etc?

Many Thanks In Advance,

  • Hello IT Service Desk,

first of all, this question belongs to the Endpoint Security and Control group - this here is intended for Community topics. If feasible please join the SESC group and move this thread there.

    1) IIRC the guide also briefly mentions the "redirection" of the endpoints. Protect Computers is generally recommended, reinstalling by some other means works as well, there's also a migration utility. If you're familiar with the concepts of RMS and depending on your environment there are other ways (that don't reuqire to touch the endpoints at all).

    2) From your questions - no [;)]. Seriously, this is not a recommended, supported, or documented scenario (although it can be done) - and anyway it hasn't much benefit if at all (even I wouldn't do it and anyway I've already got the T-shirt). Especially if you've neither migrated nor upgraded before it's asking for troubles.
