Enterprise Console viewing standalone installs

Hello

Customer support seem to ignore my emails for some reason so thought I'd give the community a try. I have some users not on the domain I have given them the standalone installer and connected it to our account. Is it possible to see these machines in the enterprise console? Obviosuly it would be beneficical if I could.

Thanks

  • Hello Jason Bedward,

isn't this an oxymoron? The meaning of stand-alone is just that: Not centrally managed.
If you want them to report - why did you decide to install the SA version in the first place? Domain membership is not required for management, only access (directly or indirectly) to ports 8192 and 8194 of the management server (and of course the installation of the RMS component).

P.S.: There's the Sophos Enterprise Console forum in the Endpoint Security and Control group which would have been the ideal place for your post.

  • Hello,

Well by stand-alone installer I mean it was not deployed via the console and was installed manually. I was simply using the terminology used on the Sophos site so everyone would understand what I meant. From previously using Kaspersky where you could install the MSI on a machine and connect it to the server that managed everything.

The RMS component where can I find this to install?

    Thanks

  • Hello Jason Bedward,

the terminology used on the Sophos site
is not always consistent, but standalone=unmanaged (e.g. the packages from the Downloads page).

If you can't (or don't want to) run setup.exe from the CID please see How to create a standalone or custom installer package. You can simply install over existing installations - just adding the RMS component is possible but not as easy and has no advantages.
