Procedure for migrating the database from the Sophos Console Server (not distributed) to an external SQL server (distributed)

Hello, we would want to migrate the Sophos Enterprise console database that is currently located on the same machine as the other components (not distributed environment) to one remote SQL server (this is: we would want change our "not distributed" environment into a distributed environment). Checking articule 22468 it seems that this is covered by the procedure described on article 28276 ( https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/28276 ), but this is a generic procedure for moving all the environment to a new server. Please, someone know the steps to perform such operation? Thanks in advance.

P.S. We are currently running Sophos Enterprise Console 5.2.1 R2, our idea was to upgrade to 5.4 and then migrate the database

  • Hi Bob,

Thanks for your help. Yes, I had seen it, but I only need to move the database and the guide cover a complete migration, moving all the components to a new server, not only the database. It also seem that there is not an step for reconfiguring the current console to point out to the new SQL server, is there? I would want to know which steps I must not take into account. I think I should ignore steps 9 (as far as I am not installing a new console server) and 12 to 20, but I am nor sure... maybe I need to uninstall all the software in the current server and reinstall all components again in the same server except for the database that will be migrated to the new server...

    Thanks!

  • Hi Diego,

Hmm, that will require some more pointed expertise, could you ask in this forum? There are lots of SEC experts there that could address.

    Regards,

    Bob
