Mobile device optimisation of SophosTalk?

Hi,

You may have seen the poll we started, asking whether you would find mobile optimisation of SophosTalk a useful feature. Mobile optimisation would mean:

  • Automatic mobile device detection - visit using a smartphone device, and SophosTalk will autmotically serve up the mobile-optimised version of the community.
  • Single column vertical scrolling (no horizontal scrolling) - a navigational aid serving up streamlined content that requires only vertical scrolling.
  • Auto-complete search - SophosTalk will try to anticipate what you're searching for, saving on text entry.
  • Mobile user dashboard for preferences selection
  • Front page selection - you decide which SophosTalk page is your "home", filtering out content that's of no interest.

We've already activated this feature in our "sister" community, SophosFreeTalk. If you have a smart device, why not give it a trial by visiting that community.

The reason we haven't done this on SophosTalk yet is that the registration and sign-in dialogs interface with MySophos. The equivalent dialogs on SophosFreeTalk are those provided out of the box by our platform provider. That meant no work for us. Mobile optimisation of MySophos would require some engineering work, and the poll is intended to show whether there's any demand for this feature.

So, please complete the poll. There's only one question to answer. You can find it in the right-hand navigational panel on, for example, the community home page.

Our good friend QC has begun a optimisation discussion thread, to weigh up the pros and cons of this feature. Please leave your comments there.

Thanks,

spike.

I (also) access it using an 1st-gen iPad and do not see any changes. There's the Sophos app which offers a "mobile" view but well, it has IMO a vast potential for improvement :smileywink:. I my iPad no (longer) a mobile device with regard to this forum, do I something (including my expectations what to see) wrong or ...?
