Sophos Web Appliance Dashboard Woes

When we have issues with our web appliances (IP Filters), we reboot them to restore connectivity. All comes back up fine. Traffic flows as it should. But, the web interface shows dead dials. Traffic flow look non-existent and all the numbers stay at zero. Over night, this magically corrects itself.

I contacted Support and was told this was normal. If that's the case, please do something to correct that.  I came in one morning to a dead appliance. I rebooted it and could only tell it was alive again through its SysLogs. I had to fly blind all day. And, it started having issues again. So when asked by management what was going on, I had to say "I have no idea, the web interface is dead...and apparently this 'is normal'".  Not a good look for Sophos. Not a great thing for me.

Anybody else have this issue> Any Sophos employees out there have a different answer or a way to pump life into the dashboard after a reboot?

  • I'm sorry you've been having a poor experience with the Web Appliance.

As you've described it, I'm having trouble matching the behaviour to a specific known issue on the appliance. It's hard to make any commitments to fix a problem if we don't know the root cause. I'd like to get to the bottom of what our support team thought was the problem.

If you still have details of the support ticket ID from your call, please let me know and I'll see if I can find out more about the exact problem.

    Thanks,

    Rich
