False positive issue

I have read the various advisories regarding this issue but find myself a bit unsure if I have to do anything.  I am a regular homje based user and as computer savvy as some people.

I don't see the SOPHOS icon on the toolbar like before and also when I start up the computer I get the following error:

ALmon

Error loading external resources (0x80070005)

Can someone help?????

  • Morning Gof4, sorry to hear that you have been affected by this issue, in the first instance please read the Standalone users guide for this issue:

    http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/118322.aspx

if you are still having issues then try:

Open up services by running "services.msc" (start - run - type: "services, msc"), can you manually stop the Sophos Anti-Virus Service?

Otherwise, you could try opening up Task Manager (start - run - type: taskmgr.exe), switch to the "processes" tab, find savservice.exe and end the process.

Then try running the command again, i.e.

    cscript //nologo FixUpdate.vbs /fixIssues:true /username:myUser /password:myPassword

Where myUser and myPassword are your credentials, your company / supplier should be able to confirm those if you are unaware of them.

If you have any issues please post here as i am keeping an eye on the boards at the moment.
