Useful life of Sophos Anti-Virus has been exceeded

My antivirus is

Sophos Anti-Virus
Version 4.32.0 [Win32/Intel]
Virus data version 4.32E, August 2008
Includes detection for 493692 viruses, trojans and worms
Copyright (c) 1989-2008 Sophos Plc, www.sophos.com

it says "Useful life of Sophos Anti-Virus has been exceeded". Does this mean this product is completely obsolete?

I downloaded the updates for it.

If so what free version would you suggest to use?

Hello jockx,

4.32 is pretty old and outdated (BTW - which Windows version do you run?). There's neither a free AV nor a "home" version available from Sophos. Where did you get your version from?

This question has not been answered. I too am getting the same warning in the log file for Sophos Antivirus. Warning: Useful life of Sophos Anti-Virus has been exceeded. As well my software will not auto-update starting 2 days ago. The licensing is from my university and I am running a current version with server settings correctly entered.
