Recommended vendor exclusions for use with Sophos products on Linux

I see on the following link https://support.sophos.com/support/s/article/KB-000033519 recommended vendor exclusions for use with Sophos products on Windows but do not see recommended vendor exclusions for use with Sophos products on Linux / RHEL / Centos etc.

Is there a list available somewhere.

I am assuming that I would follow this document with the following exclude command.

https://docs.sophos.com/esg/SAV-Linux/help/en-us/PDF/sav_linux_cg.pdf has the following exclude commands.

15.2 Excluding files and directories from scanning

15.3 Exclude a filesystem type from scanning

Thank You for your help.

  • Hi Ron,

Thanks for reaching out to the Sophos Community Forum.

Could you elaborate on which Linux Protection product you have installed on your device? If you have installed "Sophos Anti-Virus for Linux (Legacy)" then on-access scanning exclusions may be needed.

If you've installed using the normal "Linux Server Installer," exclusions will only be needed for on-demand scans.

The exclusions you will add based on each vendor will remain the same regardless of which Sophos product you have installed, as the same files will need to be excluded for optimal operation of the vendor's software.

Scanning exclusions in Sophos Central can be added into your Threat Protection Policy, or from the Global Exclusions page.
