Configure Upstream Trusted Relays

Our Exchange 2003 server handles incoming email directly i.e. our MX records point directly to the IP Address of this server. So in terms of configuring upstream relays - I'm not sure if I have to add any IP Addresses here as essentially we don't have any upstream relays as such?

Or is my understanding of this incorrect?
