SBS2003 exchange “Mail Only – External Email Contact” in Disturbution List fails to be sent.

I have a SBS2003 Exchange + PureMessage problem.

When sending an email from an external site to a distribution list on our SBS2003 server that contains the external site’’’’s user as a member of the “Mail Only – External Email Contact”, the message is only forwarded to members of the domain and not to any of the “Mail Only – External Email Contact” members.

PureMessage shows that the message to each and all recipients has been delivered.

When a message is sent from within our domain, all members receive the email.

Within PureMessage, stopping the “Transport (SMTP) Scanning” fixes the above problem, but also permits spam of course. PureMessage is configured to use Active Directory.

Example:-

knownuser@somewhere.org  sends an email to: mylist@mydomain.net

knownuser@somewhere.org does not receive email.

localuser@mydomain.net receives the email.

Example Setup:-

mylist is a Distribution List in active directory on our sbs2003 server, mylist has 2 members, one is a user on the domain which I have called localuser and the other is in the “Mail Only – External Mail Contacts” called knownuser@somewhere.org

Active Directory contains the following:-

Active Directory Users and Computers

            + mydomain.net

                         + Mail Only

                                    + Distribution Groups

                                                mylist

                                    + External Email Contacts

                                                knownuser@somewhere.org

mylist contains the following members:-

knownuser@somewhere.org

localuser@mydomain.net

Any ideas, please?
