Puremessage for Exchange 3.1.0 attachment fitler by sender

Hi

At the moment we quarantine certain types of inbound attachments for security reasons (notably .htm files that these days hit hard with virus and phishing scams, sophos will often find them but only after the samples have been submitted and detections improved)

However we have a supplier that emails us documents from a system that also gets quarantined. Given this email can be sent to anyone in the company I would like to add an exception for this sender on the attachement rule.

But I noticed the attachment rules for inbound traffic only allows exceptions based on the recipient of the message and not the sender, this is most irritating as we do not know who this individual will email next. Is there any plans to include exceptions by sender as well as recipient as a feature in the content filter?

Thanks

  • You're correct that there currently isn't away to exempt senders from hitting certain policy rules within Puremessage for Exchange; you can definitely handle the appropriate action differently based on the intended recipient.

There is an existing feature request that would allow such a function, although I'm unaware of its present consideration for inclusion in future versions of the product. Needless to say, there have been past requests to have such a feature, so we can add your voice to the existing one to raise its profile as required.

Let us know if there are any other suggestions you have regarding improving your Sophos experience.
