Mail Log Searching

The mail log search does not always work correctly. Most of the time if I need to check if an email got sent successfully I have to wait until the raw logs download the next day so I can manually search through them. The mail logs search doesn't find what I need.

For example, I will search for an email address that someone sent to between to specific dates and no results come back, but when I look at the raw logs the next day there is an entry for that email address that I searched for.

Seems that this interface needs to be improved and there needs to be an option to download the current raw logs instead of waiting for the FTP to download them at night.

Why doesn't the mail logs search work?

  • Hi Kaleb,

Please contact Support for this issue, so it can be investigated.

In the meantime, as a workaround, you can set the data backup interval for System logs, to be every half hour.

Also, if you have a syslog server, or if you can set one up, your Email Appliance can log to syslog, which will give you realtime logs of the Mail Transfer Agent, as well as other logs.

    Hope that helps,

    Tom
