virtual appliance shuts down the CPU in vmware 7.1

Hi, i am installing a sphops virtual web appliance on vmware workstation 7.1. following the instructions in setup guide. when i power on the appliance, vmware workstation pops the message "CPU has been disabled by guest OS..." what could possibly be wrong with my setup ?

hi, as there is no comment. i tried to run virtual appliance in Oracle Virtualbox, and it did work. strange isn't it ?.
