Users report being unable to access "google.com" , the url being returned is "www.google.com:8000/;audio.mp3?hash=1452607956657".

hi there

we are running virtual web appliances ( version 4.2.0 ) , and it appears that Google.com is no longer accessible.

The user types google.com and then is redirected to www.google.com:8000/;audio.mp3?hash=1452607956657 and displayed the " Remote Server not responding " splash screen

any help would be appreciated

  • Hi FJ,

Do you get the same result with https scanning turned on?

Configuration > Global Policy > HTTPS Scanning
  • www.google.com:8000/;audio.mp3?hash=1452607956657

; is an illegal character in a valid url.

when you specify a :8000 to the url you are instructing the browser to use port 8000 .. The appliance only understands port 80 and 443 and accepts proxy connections on 8080. Chances are your firewall is dropping port 8000 (although the request its self is invalid)

You may wish to double check the url.
