Using the email appliance for TLS encryption - which certificate?

Hi,

I am looking at using my Sophos ES1100 mail appliance to encrypt messages using TLS where possible and need to use a certificate from a recognised CA. I called Verisign to see what they had to offer - they told me they had nothing suitable! I find that hard to believe...

Am I right in thinking a bog standard SSL certificate will do the job nicely?

Has anyone else had any experience with this? Which CA did you use and can you remember the name of the product that was supplied to you?

Many thanks :smileyhappy:

  • You can initiate a signing request from the appliance encryption menu, or contact your certificate provider.. As long as the certificate is signed by a recognized CA and assembled correctly in PEM format it will work fine for you.

If you do the CSR from the appliance make sure your common name is correct and your info is correct for the cert and you shouldn’’’’t have any issues.

once its uploaded to the appliance just check off what encrypted functions you want to use it for.. ie tls or spx
