how to check blocked messages

Exchange 2010 sp3, PureMessage (latest version)

we're currently having issues in not being able to receive emails from a certain domain. from my side, i've checked PureMessage quarantine and couldn't find any indication that said domain was blocked nor quarantined.

is there any other way to check such emails that seem to be "blocked" somewhere?

  • First thing to do is plunk their mail url into mxtoolbox.com and conduct a blacklist check on the sender.

If they are clean there then :

Check out your filtering options, configuration / transport SMTP / filtering / block list

You may be able to see some information in the activity monitor as well..

You can also check your PMEX logs for any information .. make sure they are set to the most verbose logging. Configuration / System Configuration / Log settings

Then browse to c:\Program Files\Sophos\PureMessage\Logs Check the SMTPScan.txt.

If you still cant find anything there, check the exchange mail transport logs..

If you still dont see anything in any of the logs and they are not black listed on mxtoolbox or listed in your block list.

The mail could be hitting other rules (check the ones that delete/drop mail first)

If none of that works then have the sender send the email to another mail provider as an attachment such as gmail.. then send that you yourself and see if it triggers any rules and such.. If all else fails take all of the headers, body and message attributes and try submitting it to not-spam@labs.sophos.com
