Pure message question

Hi can someone explian something to me please.

In pure message you have SMTP and Echange store.

I unserstand SMTP scans all mail that comes in from out side. Does the store scan all mail from internal clients.

since putting PM on our exchange server I have noticed that the store count is up to 910000 in a matter of days, Is this actual emails sent from internal, or is this the mail its scanned within the store itself.  if its the first then i would sispect I have a virus on the network as we only have 10 staff and that many emals in 2 days would be impossible.

    It scans all the emails that exist within the Exchange mailbox database itself. I usually turn Exchange scanning off and just have SMTP enabled. Mailbox scanning seemed to really impact on server performance.

    Also, I can't believe nobody has replied to this in over a week, I guess nobody from Sophos bothers with this forum?
