Hi all, hopefully someone might have some insight into my issue - I've had a few emails from our web gateway appliance noting that it has reached the maximum number of available connections for processing web traffic. This isn't a common thing but I would prefer to **bleep** a problem in the bud before it becomes one. I suspect it's just a config issue so I'd love some help figuring out what could cause it so I can get it fixed. Error message and environment info is below:
Users: 350
Environment type: Corporate, moderately locked down (no social networks etc.)
Mode: Explicit proxy with AD integration
Browsers: Chrome and IE (IE10+)
OS's: Windows 7 (vast majority), Windows 8.1 (IT) and XP (about 5% of users due to legacy app).
Error Message I'm getting on email:
The appliance reached the limit of active connections available for processing web traffic. Users attempting to browse through the appliance may experience latency or be unable to access websites.
To keep this initial question readable, I'm not going to include the entire output of the attached text file that comes with that email detailing all connections at the time of the incident. Suffice to say, there's one outstanding entry though....
127.0.0.0 - Total Connections in Subnet: 263
=> 127.0.0.1:8443 - Connections: 263
(HTTPS scanning requests)
The rest of the entries are things that you'd expect - microsoft.com, bing.com, google.com, cricket.com etc. but the number of connections they have listed are no higher than 7 each. The 127.0.0.1:8443 is what's got me stumped and I'm not sure what's causing it.
Any help would be appreciated, even in just understanding what config issue I could have here. Let me know if you want more information, I should be able to provide it.
Cheers,
Graeme.
