Outlook Add-in Spam folder Error

We are installing the Outlook Add-in to all of our endpoint computers.  On a few now, when we open Outlook, we are recieving this error...

Sophos Add-in

The Spam folder you selected can not be found.  Defaulting to Junk E-mail folder as default.

We have tried to use the Delete spam message(s) option, same error

We have tried to select the Junk E-mail folder using the browse button, same error

Would anyone have a solution to this error?

Thank you

  • Hi,

This sounds like a variation on a bug within the Outlook Add-in that will be fixed in version 1.2, tied to a file lock mechanism. (Version 1.2 doesn't have a set date for release yet -- my understanding that it's in the near future.)

However, Outlook should still open as far as I can tell, so we need to find out what's going on here. Are there any differences between the endpoints where this problem happens and the ones that work fine? What version of Outlook is running on the affected systems? Is it 32-bit or 64-bit on all systems? How are people opening Outlook -- are they using the Outlook icon are they double-clicking on a .MSG file to view a single message?

  • We did discover that the error only comes up once during the day.

    1. Log into network

    2. Open Outlook, Double click the Icon

    3. Recieve error, click Ok

    4. Outlook opens, everything appears to function fine.

    5. Close Outlook

    6. Open Outlook, no error

The endpoints range from WinXP to Win7 32 and 64.  Local Admin rights to Standard user rights.  All running Outlook 2010 32bit.

I think we will continue to click Ok and hopefully the new version will resolve the issue.

    Thank you

  • Any news on this?  I am seeing it in a XenApp 6.5 pilot environment when attempt to send email attachments while Outlook is not already running.  If Outlook is running, it does not happen.  It looks like the latest version of the addin is still 1.1.1, are there any workarounds other than clicking OK?

    Thanks
