I'm running a sophos web appliance and I've just noticed that it's possible to browse the web and bypass the proxy completely if I just set my web browser to no proxy.
There are a few IPs in my conncetion profiels list, they are also exempt from authentication however I can browse from any IP address on the network. I've never actually worked out how the web appliance stops traffic from reaching the gateway given that it has only one lan port.
It looks like I can just acess teh web directly via the gateway bypassing the web appliance altogether. None of my users seem to have worked this out yet and I'm sure they never will but it's bugging me.
Am I missing something fundamental?
