Puremessage not detecting Spam

I have Puremessage 3.1.0 running on my 2003 SBS server. One day it just stopped detecting Spam and delivering everything to end users. I've been searching and searching for a solution but to no avail.

It's showing that everything running, it's updating fine. Just not catching anything. What am I missing?

    There are two specific things i would look into first.

    1. Check the services are started. (unlikely)

    2. Updating

    I have experience this before and it was related to updating but just the PM updates not the others, so it looked like it was updating.
    It will run fine and only after a long time (about a month) of it not updating did it stop processing email.

    If you would like us to check the log file for you. Paste the bottom 20 lines of the alc.log file here.
    alc.log file located in:
    (32 bit) C:\Program Files\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Logs\

    (64 bit) C:\Program Files (x86)\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Logs

    We can then confirm if the updates for PM are being downloaded and installed.

    On a side note, Are there any errors in the Event viewer relating to MSIINSALLER or PM,
    And is there a secondary server directed to Sophos configured (including proxy details if required)?

  • I tried adding our router's IP address to the upstream providers and viola it started working. Kind of makes sense, except that wasn't set in there before when it was working.
