Error with Sophos ES1,000 SPX portal

Hi All,

I am evaluating Sophos SPX encryption on an ES 1,000 appliance and come across an issue with the SPX portal. It's configured with port 10443 and Web quarantine is configured on Port 443. Web quarantine is working fine but SPX portal is giving an error as below.

403 Forbidden The server could not complete your request because this is a forbidden location.

I have tried interchanging ports but no luck. My portal link is https://es1000:10443. I am not using a domain setup so I have put an entry for es1000 in my PC's host file. It's even giving the same error for direct IP address https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:10443 Please advice.

Regards,

Pubudu.

  • Hi,

    Hopefully this procedure will help.

    1. Configure SPX portal to port 443

    2. Try to login from one workstation

    3. Return SPX portal to port 10443

And now all clients should be able to use SPX portal on port 10443.

  • Hi,

If you are trying to access the link directly you will receive an error.  The portal link is only accessible if you click on the reply button in a secure PDF message generated by the Email Appliance.

How are you trying to access the portal?

  • Hi Jason,

Thank you very much for the info. I was trying to access the portel using the direct link like the End User Quarantine site. SPX portal is working when I use the reply option. Thanks again.

    Best regards,
