Web Appliance blocks sending of webmail

Even though in the policy settings webmail is allowed, whenever someone tries to send or reply to a webmail message, it gets bocked. Our executives use some webmail providers and this is getting to be a problem. Is this a bug or is this by design?

  • It's difficult to speak to this accurately without specifics:

    1) Which webmail providers?

    2) Are the executives attempting to send files?

    3) Is there any site re-directs that may be blocked?

While the portal in to the webmail interface may be allowed, there could be elements or workflows that are blocking the successful sending of the mail.

The SWA allows you to send logs to a syslog server, or to create a backup of the logs to push off the box for analysis.

In the Web Appliance Help, you can search for "Interpreting Sophos Log File" to aid in your analysis.

Alternatively, if you know the time and the name of a user encountering the issue, Sophos Support can provide more details about why the block is happening.

    Cheers,
