SMTPD not running properly since firmware update

since firmware update to 9.400-9 i have had some issues with the SMTPD not running (6 alerts since update) which means mail doesn't even come into the UTM logs.

I have rebooted and a flurry of mails come in, anyone else had issues?

    Yes, I've been having this problem since Friday (8 April). If I turn off the SMTP Proxy, mail starts flowing (in both directions). Turn it back  on and silence.

    The SMTP Log does not even show me turning it off and on:

    2016:04:11-00:00:03 astaro1-2 smtpd[18276]: Expired letters: Removing letters from SPX Portal that are older than 30 days...

    2016:04:11-00:00:03 astaro1-1 smtpd[11805]: Expired letters: Removing letters from SPX Portal that are older than 30 days...
    2016:04:11-00:00:03 astaro1-1 smtpd[11805]: Expired letters: There was an error while removing expired letters: 
    2016:04:11-00:00:03 astaro1-1 smtpd[11803]: Reset password: Expired passwords successfully deleted.
    2016:04:11-00:00:08 astaro1-2 smtpd[18279]: Reset password: Connecting to Confd was successful.
    2016:04:11-00:00:08 astaro1-2 smtpd[18279]: Reset password: Confd returned the expected expiry period: 30 day(s).
    2016:04:11-00:00:08 astaro1-2 smtpd[18279]: Reset password: Expired passwords successfully deleted.

    Turning Sandstorm off didn't make a difference.

    (It is now 15 hours since these log entries).
