TPG Fibre 400 on a SG210

I have just upgraded my internet to the TPG Fibre 400mbit service.

However i can only get a maximum output on speedtest.net of 260mbit via my SG210.

The Firewall is fully patched and uptodate.

The service works as it have been tested directly at the NTU with speeds of 395mbits

Is this a limitation of the SG210 or a config issue.

(Been on hold with phone support for 40min while typing this question. Still haven't spoken to a human yet.)

  • Try disabling IPS altogether and see if your speed improves.

  • Disabled IPS.

    No change to throughput.

  • Hi Paul,

I find that very bizarre, because you should see a speed change regardless if your at the limits.  When you say you disabled it - you have gone here  Network protection > Intrusion Prevention and clicked the big green button and disabled it?

What about downloading an ISO from the internet?

If that doesn't change you might have QoS set? Check your Qos settings and turn it off for testing purposes.

  • Also I checked the specs of your device and it says 500mbits for Antivirus, turn off Web Protection and Application control. Turn every thing off and work backwards to see what changes.

  • Hi Thanks you the replies,

I have turn off all features and options that is possible to turn off or disable - this makes no difference still only get 260Mbps connection out of 400 Mpbs

I have also turned on QoS at 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 400 Mbps - QoS works on the lower level of 250 but not higher QoS.

I have also turned every feature possible on, and Surprise I still only get 260 Mbps

Other information that may be helpful

    This is a HA setup

We have an existing 80 Mbps service connected to the SG210 - that has no features turn on - basically the interface is a router setup.

  • What is your download speed when downloading an ISO from MSDN or something big from Microsoft?

We have an SG330 in the data centre with gigabit connection, and we see syncing to blobl storage can get 916mbits, but on speed test we get between 250 - 280mbps up and down.

Try a file download manager that can download multiple segments at the same time so you can see what it can achieve.
