Power Management & Shutdown Issue

Hi team...
I'm new to Astaro, it seems to be a great product. I just installed it for my home network.

I have 3 systems in a home network, one of them is an astaro-box, I decide to save some space and connect the astaro and another system to a Monitor/Keyb/Mouse switch so I can have both on a desk. 

Problem is that when I spend some time working on the other system than astaro when I return back to it some times I loose conectivity to the keyboard, some times to the Display. So I can't loging to the console.
System is PIII ATX, Power Management is disabled in BIOS

Another problem is width "Shutdown". Getting the system into shutdown shows an error "Stopping Squid... Error, No running copy" and shutdown never ends. Of course, Squid is disabled.

I'm testing the astaro in order to use as my company firewall so your help will be very appreciated.

    First, which version do you use?

    Lose the console connect sounds like a hardware prob, asl (the linux kernel) should handle this. Do you have some other experiences with your console switch and linux?

    Shutdown always never ends - after the shutdown the system is only endless idle, everything is stopped, all (real) filesystems are unmounted. Btw, reboot ans shutdown are revised in 1.795.

    Actually I get exactly the same with the KVM switch. I loose all contact with the keyboard (and presumably mouse but its kinda irrelavent).
    I did use the PC before as a windows box - with no issues swapping to and from the PC. As soon as I put ASL on - after a while the KVM switch no longer responds

    we have ordered a KVM switch to evaluate this behavior.

    Make sure your KVM switch supports mouse/keyboard emulation.  This is very important.

    A lot of motherboards will poll the ps2 and serial ports to obtain feedback data.  If there is no reply on that port after a specific amount of time, they will assume the device or port is malfunctioning and stop polling.

    I had the same problem, and it occurred no matter what my BIOS settings were (on a couple different mobo's).  So, I went out and bought a decent Belkin rackmount KVM switch (with excellent Linux support), and now things are all good again.   [:)]

    I've just moved the FW to a 2nd device (on the same stack) and the problem is not occurring (just been left 8 hours).

    I wonder why - the 2nd switch is less crowded but now contains both ATX & AT, whilst the first switch contains both as well.

    same here OmniView 4 ports home and office

    office uptime with astaro is execl 
    System continuously available since 7 days 3 hours 39 minutes

    I still have the same behaviour. ASL on the second KVM switch seems to just stay there but on the first just dies after a short while. 

    To be more accurate ASL doesn't die - just the console session.

    The PC used to run windoze with no problems on the first KVM switch.

    I have several other windoze devices on the first switch and one on the second.... so it isn't on its own or anything...

    Its actually more conveniant on the second switch anyway - just wish I could think of a way to tie this behavior down more....
