Do I need DHCP or can I supply a static address to the 2 machines that would sit behind my firewall?

As far as the spare pc goes, I have a P2-233 with a 2.3gb hardisk. I can format it to say 1.4 gb and forget the rest... This pc would not be used for anything else.

You need a DHCP-client on the Astaro box to get your IP# from your ISP. Private static IP#'s are fine for inside boxes.

It sounds like your box will work. The minimun size drive is 1.5 and Astaro reformats and uses the whole drive. I don't know what the maximin drive size for older computers is but your 2.3GB should be fine.

Note: You don't need an internet connection to install Astaro. You do need another box hooked up to the Astaro box (e.g. a crossover cable) to setup/configure Astaro once it is installed.

OK to confirm my set-up, The astaro box needs the DHCP client running onthe external NIC because my ISP provides DHCP through the cable modem to one NIC only. All other pc's on the inside NIC can run static addresses without any issues.

Is this correct?
