Questions about using Astaro as a web/mail server

Is it possible to install RPM packages onto a box running Astaro without breaking it? 

Specifically, may I replace sendmail with another mail service (such as Courier), replace the Apache install, and install a nameserver such as BIND? Does Astaro use Linuxconf?

This functionality would be nice because it would allow me to run a "hardened" server some nice firewall rules, even if I don't need an internal network.

    no its not possible, and we dont use linuxconf.

    astaro securiy linux is a small all inclusive security distribution and not made for desktops, program/kernel compilations, self-made servers or additional (insecure) server feature.

    i you would run a "hardened server with some nice firewall rules": you have to build your own one.
