moving from APX to AP6 device management for Multiple customers

Hello,

We are currently managing multiple customers firewalls Via Central portal.

All of our customers are currently using the APX line which we manage from the site firewalls.

We are looking to provision devices for a new customer site, and have read that the APX models are in the end of Sale, and that AP6 models are the migration path.

The documentation states that AP6 devices can only be managed via sophos central or a local web interface PER AP.

We attached an access point to Sophos Central Wireless to begin testing, and are very disappointed in the lack of features.

It seems this portal is not built in any way to manage multiple customers, and this is making us think that we may have to find a new vendor to support our customer base's wireless needs.

If there we had 100 customers, all with an average of 3  SSID's per customer provisioned in the portal, drilling down to find specific information regarding an AP, or device connected to the SSID seems like a nightmare.

How, if at all, are you guys managing multiple customers, with multiple sites and all unique SSID's in the Central Wireless portal?

  • First of all: Sophos Central is a tenant based approach: You should always have one tenant for each customer. Central was build with Data Protection and GDPR in mind. You SHOULD NOT manage multiple Access Points from multiple customers within one Central console.

Central is a management platform for all our products, like Firewall, endpoint, encryption etc. Mixing it would mean, you are mixing the data of customers, which are likely not ok with this.

Therefore the first step is to setup an account for one customer. This customer gets his own deployment. In this central console, you can setup and manage your SSIDs like you did on your individual firewall.

As it seems, you are an MSP: You can also automate a lot of this: https://developer.sophos.com/

We offer a Variety of APIs for Sophos Central to start a tenant.
Here is an Academy, where we pulled data together: https://events.sophos.com/events/35d7d211-5f6d-47b7-96f0-46ee9e7183e2
